Many things can cause elbow discomfort, particularly tendonitis - painful inflammation or injury to the tendons that connect your muscles to the bones in your elbow. Elbow tendonitis is most often caused by sports-related activities like golf or tennis. You can also get tendonitis from overuse of the elbow. Other sources of elbow pain include sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, bursitis and arthritis. The treatment your doctor prescribes will of course depend on the cause.
